North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) is a physician-referred service that provides specialized services for community-living frail older adults. We work closely with healthcare professionals across Ontario to help achieve our goals of providing the best care to older adults and their caregivers.
NESGC operates an ambulatory clinic in Sudbury, as well as outreach clinics in Elliot Lake, New Liskeard, North Bay, Parry Sound, and Timmins, as well as in communities along the James Bay Coast. Individuals living in the greater Sault Ste. Marie area should be referred directly to the Algoma Geriatric Clinic located at the Sault Area Hospital.
NESGC strives to advance knowledge and practice in geriatric medicine throughout Northeastern Ontario by delivering advanced education and knowledge translation to build capacity in our region. For example, in addition to speaking at educational and professional development events, NESGC also delivers the North East Geriatric Medicine Refresher Day and collaborates on planning the Regional Geriatric Programs of Ontario Education Day. Moreover, we partner with the Dr. Linda Lee and the North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) to deliver Dr. Lee’s specialized memory clinics for primary care professionals.
If you are interested in having a member of our team deliver education at your event or to your team, or if you would like a placement at NESGC, please contact the Manager of Clinical Services.
Individuals interested in research opportunities at NESGC should contact the Research & Project Coordinator.
Clinicians and staff at North East Specialized Geriatric Centre are interested in collaborating on local, regional, and broader projects. Students, clinicians, and researchers should contact the Regional Evaluation Lead for inquiries about collaborating on research projects.
