North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) does not provide hospital-based services, but our team works closely in collaboration with hospitals and specialty services for older adults throughout Northeastern Ontario.
Health Sciences North
North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) works closely with hospitals across Northeastern Ontario. In Sudbury, NESGC collaborates with Dr. McElhaney, at Health Sciences North, and the Consultation for Older Adults with Acutely Compromised Health (COACH) team. The COACH team works with frail seniors 65 years of age and older, who have been admitted to an inpatient bed, and who either have lost or are at risk of losing their independence in daily living.
Moreover, NESGC is proud to partner with the Short Term Assessment and Treatment (STAT) rehabilitation clinic. STAT operates an ambulatory rehabilitation clinic from Health Sciences North’s Outpatient Centre.
Sault Area Hospital
North East Specialized Geriatric Centre has worked closely with the Sault Area Hospital (SAH) and the North East Local Health Integration Network to develop and launch the Algoma Geriatric Clinic. The Algoma Geriatric Clinic now operates as a service of the SAH, and as a partner of NESGC. Individuals in the Algoma region wishing to be seen at the Algoma Geriatric Clinic must be referred by a physician.
